Entering the Education Field in 2012

In 2012, Chairman Stanley Yen officially entered the field of education. Following his appointment as Chairman of Junyi School of Innovation in Taitung, he frequently shared insights on global educational trends.

That year, significant developments occurred in the world of education. Besides the establishment of "Minerva Schools," known for its motto "Campus in Every Corner of the World," it was also heralded as the "Year of MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses)" by The New York Times. This was due to the successive founding of Udacity, Coursera, and edX, solidifying online learning as an unstoppable global educational trend.

Chairman Yan simultaneously took notice of the "Khan Academy," which was established by Bangladeshi-American Salman Khan back in 2008. He expressed his lament over the absence of a similar website in Taiwan. At that moment, Mr. Fang Xin-Zhou, Chairman of the Cheng Zhi Education Foundation and also a board member of Junyi, obtained the software authorization from the Khan Academy and, in 2012, introduced the "Junyi Academy."

Promoting Flipped Education Since 2014

In 2014, Taiwan saw a grassroots movement towards flipped education, inspiring innovative teacher communities. The Alliance Cultural Foundation (ACF), alongside the Cheng Zhi Education Foundation and innovative educators, launched "Flipped Classroom Workshops." These workshops differed from traditional models, requiring teachers to complete online assignments beforehand. Despite the rigorous entry criteria, over a thousand teachers from across Taiwan participated.

In 2015 and 2016, ACF and the Cheng Zhi Education Foundation invited 22 education leaders to the U.S. for the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) Annual Conference, seeking insights into KIPP's success in underserved areas. This inspired the creation of KIPP Inspired Schools in Taiwan in 2017.

In 2016, they also collaborated to promote the "Hour of Code™." Furthermore, the Alliance Cultural Foundation began actively supporting the nationwide dissemination of the "Sharestart Method" educational methodology developed by Mr. Zhang Hui-Cheng.

Promoting Educational Learning Communities Since 2017

In 2017, the Ministry of Education collaborated with private sector initiatives to launch the "Annual Induction Training for New Teachers.” This program allowed experienced frontline teachers from across Taiwan to share their passion and expertise with over two thousand newly appointed teachers. ACF seized the opportunity as a collaborator to facilitate dialogue and integration among teacher communities.
