National Cheng Kung Commercial & Aquaculture Senior Vocational High School is the only commercial aquaculture school in the country, the highest educational institution in Chenggong Town, Taitung County, and was the first Taitung school to collaborate with The Alliance Cultural Foundation. We assisted the school in developing specialized courses to train professional domestic tourism and hospitality talent.
Taitung has local specialties such as Chishang's fine rice and Cheng Kung's quality fisheries products. Chairman Yen has always hoped to combine these two, guiding locals to create sushi with distinctive Hualien-Taitung features, offering tourists different culinary choices and experiences. In 2011, Master Chef Zhang Ming-Torng was appointed as a resident coaching chef for The Alliance Cultural Foundation. Besides assisting at the Cheng Kung Sailfish Restaurant to develop a sushi-centered menu, he also conducted sushi training courses at the school during the summer holidays. The goal was to start with student training and eventually extend skill cultivation to the community to promote employment and enhance local food and beverage industry workers' culinary production and business management skills.
