On February 6, 2018, the Hualien earthquake deeply impacted the community. Mr. Tzu-hsien Tung, chairman of Pegatron Corporation and a native of Hualien, promptly returned to assist with recovery efforts. Alongside aiding in repairing infrastructure and sponsoring ongoing disaster monitoring, Mr. Tung initiated the establishment of the Hualien Sustainable Fund through the Alliance Cultural Foundation.

This fund supported projects like the "Seven Kilometer Happiness Street" initiative, where local community workers organized counseling programs for trauma survivors. The first phase focused on immediate care, showing significant improvements in participants' mental health. Moving forward, the team aims to establish a community caregiver training program to foster long-term support networks.

A year after the earthquake, symbolic events like the "Hualien Colorful Island Fault Art Festival" and the "Good Day Market" were held, showcasing resilience and a shared vision for coexistence with nature.
