Dear Believers of the Future,

In 2012, I assumed the role of Chairman at Junyi School of Innovation with a vision to introduce inspired education and provide equal opportunities to rural students in Taiwan. We have since shifted our focus to education, making Junyi a base for experimental education and incorporating Hualien's characteristics into vocational education. By 2014, Junyi embarked on innovative teaching methods, introducing Waldorf education to our primary school. We're now in the process of establishing an experimental high school to create a comprehensive twelve-year education model.

In anticipation of campus expansion, a second-phase construction project will be completed in June 2016. The facilities will serve our students and be available for camps during breaks, supporting diverse learning experiences for rural and international students. Junyi School of Innovation aims to become an experimental base for rural education reform and a center for rural teacher training in Taiwan.

In rural education, the challenges extend beyond limited access to quality education and qualified teachers. One critical issue is the lack of employment opportunities for students after graduation. Over the past year, we've witnessed the government's gradual shift in policies. Now, vocational schools can collaborate with industry experts for co-teaching and establish specialized programs to meet local strengths and future industry needs. Alliance Cultural Foundation (ACF) has been actively involved in supporting vocational schools in Taitung. We've partnered with four vocational schools in the region, bringing in industry experts and resources to connect students with potential job opportunities. Through these initiatives, we aim to provide rural vocational students with a glimpse of the possibilities available to them.

In early 2014, the Cheng Zhi Education Foundation and ACF joined forces to promote the "Junyi Education Platform" and flipped education. Principal Cheng Han-Wen of Taoyuan Elementary School in Taitung, who is also an ACF board member, led a team to introduce this innovative approach to remote schools across Taiwan. The Junyi Education Platform rapidly gained over 140,000 users by the end of the year. In 2015, we plan to empower rural teachers, transform education in these areas, and establish the Wonderland Teacher Training Center. We'll continue vocational school collaborations, fostering school-industry connections to guide young individuals in finding their career paths. Summer camps, including English and design camps, will help unearth the potential of Hualien and Taitung youth. Furthermore, we'll partner with the Harvest 365 Foundation for the second "Hualien Youth Choir Camp" to boost students' confidence and talents through singing.

Continuing the "Camera as a Second Window" campus photography program, which received wide acclaim through three photography exhibitions in the North, East, and South, we are now sharing the experience with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) volunteer team and the Yue Yuen Education Foundation. We hope that corporate volunteers can provide more companionship and care to rural schools, allowing children to explore the world of imagery.

We aspire to provide rural teachers with diverse resources, enabling them to stay up-to-date and guide children in joyful learning. We aim to establish a new starting point in education, beginning in rural areas, so that education becomes the most critical foundation and force for sustainable development in Hualien, Taitung, and all of Taiwan.
